The Browns

Before they were pastors, D.J. and Laverne Brown were backslidden, living together, and far from the life they knew God had called them to live. Their home was filled with pressure, pain, confusion, and the heavy weight of addiction.

D.J. Brown was bound by cocaine, and the addiction affected more than him. It touched the atmosphere of the home, trust, communication, peace, and family stability. But even when they were out of place, God’s mercy was still following them.

Then came the miracle.

By the power of God, D.J. Brown was delivered from cocaine addiction. What once controlled him lost its power, and what once brought shame became a testimony of restoration.

Today, D.J. and Laverne Brown pastor and oversee Choice Harvest Worship Center in El Cajon, California. Their story is living proof that God can restore a man, a woman, a family, and a future.

The stage play “Cocaine Don’t Live Here No Mo!” is more than a production. It is their testimony on stage and a message of hope for families affected by addiction, substance abuse, at-risk youth issues, grief, and generational brokenness.

The Browns and their family want this play to help churches, nonprofits, recovery programs, youth organizations, family service agencies, and community groups raise awareness and funds for the families they serve.

Their message is simple:

You can fall and still be restored.
You can be bound and still be delivered.
Your family can be made whole again.
